What does a website cost in Sweden in 2026?

Short answer: a simple business website costs 5,000–11,000 SEK at most smaller Swedish agencies, a mid-sized one 10,000–16,000 SEK and a larger one 15,000–33,000 SEK, almost always excl. VAT. With us it costs 4,990, 6,990 or 9,990 SEK. Here is what sits behind the numbers.

Price bands on the market

We went through the pricing pages of around thirty Swedish agencies and freelancers. Simple sites of up to five pages sit at 4,990–11,000 SEK. Mid packages with ten pages, a blog or booking sit at 10,000–16,000 SEK. Larger sites with many pages and integrations sit at 15,000–33,000 SEK. Large agencies charge considerably more and rarely publish prices.

Almost all of these sites are built in WordPress with a page-builder plugin. That is why they can look alike despite different prices – the difference is how much time the agency spends on content and customisation.

Running costs

Domain: 100–200 SEK a year. Hosting: 0 SEK on Vercel for a small hand-coded site, or 79–300 SEK a month for web hosting for a WordPress site. Maintenance: 0 SEK if you handle it yourself, 500–2,000 SEK a month at agencies. WordPress maintenance is usually more expensive because plugins need monthly updates.

DIY, WordPress or hand-coded?

Building it yourself in Wix, Squarespace or Webflow costs 100–400 SEK a month plus your own time. It suits you if you have the time, enjoy tinkering and need nothing beyond the template.

WordPress through an agency is the most common. The upside is that many people can work in it. The downside is speed, security and a site that gets heavier with every plugin.

Hand-coded in Next.js or similar is the fastest and needs the least upkeep, but fewer agencies offer it. It is what we do, and with us it costs no more than WordPress.

What decides the price?

Number of pages, whether you need a blog, booking, multiple languages or integrations, whether the agency writes the copy, how many revision rounds are included, and whether the price is fixed or hourly. Always ask whether hourly billing is involved – a 'from' price with hours on top can end up double.

How to order a website

Write down what the site should do, not how it should look. Gather text and images before you order – it is the most common cause of delay. Ask for a fixed price, a delivery time and who owns the code. Check that the contact form is tested for real before launch.

Common questions

What does a website cost per year?
With a hand-coded site on Vercel: about 170 SEK for the domain. With maintenance: 170 SEK + 12 × 490 SEK = about 6,050 SEK. A WordPress site with hosting and maintenance often runs 8,000–25,000 SEK a year.
Is a cheap website worse?
Not necessarily. The price reflects how much time is spent and how the agency works. A hand-coded site for 4,990 SEK can be faster and more secure than a WordPress site for 15,000 SEK.
What does an online shop cost?
From about 12,000 SEK at WordPress agencies and up. We do not build shops in WooCommerce or Shopify.
